The Opportunity

The Automotive Car Wash Operations Manager is responsible for the operational excellence and performance of Parkland's network of 170 car wash sites across Canada. They will oversee all initiatives related to car wash stations, conduct on-site visits and audits to inventory equipment, identify improvement opportunities, and support on-site staff training on best practices.

Responsibilities

Car Wash Station Projects

  • Lead car wash station projects by defining scope, requirements, constraints, and milestones to ensure safety, efficiency, and revenue growth.
  • Coordinate and collaborate cross-functionally within Parkland to ensure project success.
  • Identify opportunities within the network and proactively approach TMs to gain support for new initiatives.
  • Act as liaison between retail operations and other relevant departments, ensuring communication and implementation of programs, policies, and systems.

Train and supervise retailers and TMs to ensure best skills and operational excellence.

  • Lead site training for retailers, site staff, and territory managers.
  • Ensure best car wash practices are implemented by retailers.
  • Conduct on-site training to improve sales skills and customer service, communicating the financial benefits of supporting recommended programs.

Conduct Regular Site Visits

  • Ensure site-level execution excellence in pricing, promotions, and program compliance.
  • Be an expert in seasonal promotions; support operations and sites, especially at the start of each period, to ensure optimal program execution.

Process Improvement

  • Create, redefine, and implement processes to improve efficiency and profitability.
  • Standardize and simplify existing processes where possible.
  • Enhance access to detailed and current data.
  • Collaborate across functions to automate manual processes and eliminate redundancies or waste.

Analysis and Strategy

  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes, and modify the retailer compensation model.
  • Provide analysis to improve industry knowledge and contribute to retail strategy optimization.
  • Extract data from multiple sources, summarize, and derive insights to support informed business decisions.
  • Offer analytical support to retail operations to increase efficiency and team knowledge base.
  • Create and implement dashboards and KPIs for operational performance indicators.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

  • Collaborate with the HSE department to ensure effective management of daily activities at Parkland facilities and field teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Candidate Profile

  • Fluent in French and English (written and oral).
  • 5 years of experience in the car wash station industry; experience in gas stations and convenience stores sector.
  • Excellent knowledge of car wash equipment and general operational procedures.
  • Proficiency in analysis tools like Power BI and Tableau.
  • Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Motivated and adaptable to dynamic business needs.
  • Ability to develop relationships and train team members on best practices.
