Job summary

BBA Consultants is seeking a Designer specializing in Controls for substations and hydro plants in Canada. You will design protection and control systems, prepare wiring diagrams, and participate in site surveys to ensure quality and compliance before energization.

The role blends design work with on-site involvement, project coordination, and client interaction. Strong English and French skills are required, along with a relevant degree and experience in protection and control projects.

Qualifications

• University degree in electrical engineering; IGEE diploma is an asset.
• Advanced English and French skills for collaboration with offices and clients.
• Willingness to do short- and long-term client-site assignments.

Responsibilities

• Design protection panels (AC, control, wiring diagrams, etc.).
• Draft installation specifications and prepare material, cable lists.
• Participate in site surveys and coordinate with discipline leads.
• Manage projects and liaison with clients to ensure quality and compliance.
• Support on-site start-up activities and field commissioning.

Your future role on our team

Join BBA and put your experience to work by taking anactive role in all project stages as a design engineer (CEP) in controls.You’ll help design control and protection systems for high-voltage substationsand hydroelectric power plants in Canada. You’ll also take part in onsite workto ensure work quality and system compliance before energization. You’ll play akey role in managing projects, coordinating with clients and delivering qualityprojects with the BBA team.

Summary of certifications and jobrequirements

• University degree in electrical engineering
• Available for short- and long-term work assignments at client sites
• Advanced English skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in English-speaking Canadian provinces and internationally; you may need to use English occasionally or daily, depending on current projects
• Advanced French skills to facilitate collaboration with other BBA offices and/or clients in Québec
• Asset: a diploma from the Institut en génie de l’énergie électrique (IGEE)
• Asset: experience in protection and control projects at Hydro-Québec
• Asset: knowledge of E3 design software
• Asset: knowledge of protection-relay test equipment and onsite monitoring
