Job summary

PIMCO is seeking a Vice President, Legal & Compliance to join the Canadian Legal & Compliance team. This high-impact role provides legal and regulatory support to PIMCO's Canadian business and helps shape the firm’s compliance framework across Canada.

The successful candidate will partner with senior leaders across Legal, Compliance, Client Management, Operations, Product Strategy and Portfolio Management to provide practical, commercial legal guidance.

Qualifications

• Law degree (J.D. or LL.B.) required.
• Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, or eligibility for admission.
• 5–10+ years of legal/compliance experience in a leading law firm, asset manager, or financial institution.
• Strong understanding of Canadian securities regulatory framework (NI 31-103, 81-102, 81-105, 81-106, 81-107).
• Experience drafting and negotiating investment management, distribution and fund offering documents; AML/sanctions/privacy knowledge is advantageous.
• French working proficiency desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal and regulatory advice to PIMCO's Canadian business on securities and compliance matters.
• Support development and monitoring of Canadian compliance program, policies and controls.
• Advise on regulatory developments and initiatives affecting the Canadian business.
• Guide on sales, marketing practices, conflicts of interest, privacy, AML, sanctions for asset management.
• Support governance matters including Independent Review Committee.
• Draft and negotiate investment management, distribution, subscription agreements and fund offering documents.
• Assist with regulatory filings and reporting obligations with Canadian regulators.
• Collaborate with global Legal & Compliance colleagues on cross-border matters.
