Job summary

Bank of America in Toronto seeks an experienced Rates Trader to manage risk and develop trading strategies with limited direction from senior staff. You will build client relationships, support clients with buying and selling financial products, and implement trading strategies to achieve revenue goals.

The role requires deep knowledge of risk management, hedging, and market dynamics, with strong collaboration across Sales, Structuring, and global trading teams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in Rates Trading, Treasury or CAD FX.
  • Strong knowledge of interest rate products including swaps, forwards, government bonds and derivatives.
  • Proven ability to manage risk, price markets, and execute trades in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Solid understanding of market structure and liquidity dynamics.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration with Sales and global trading teams.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with global sales teams to help clients execute trading activities and share market knowledge.
  • Perform trading activities in compliance with regulations and ensure orders are accurate and timely.
  • Assign accounts to predefined trading models and administer trades per product guidelines.
  • Operate as a market maker, buying and selling instruments according to trading strategies and risk parameters.

This job is responsible for managing risk and developing trading activities with limited direction from senior staff. Key responsibilities include proactively maintaining and building client relationships, supporting clients with buying and selling financial products, and implementing trading strategies to achieve revenue goals. Job expectations include having in-depth knowledge of risk management, hedging, and trading strategies as well as market characteristics.

Responsibilities
  • Partners with global sales teams to help the bank's clients execute trading activities, while sharing knowledge of the current market environment
  • Performs trading activities in compliance with federal regulations, industry standards, and other requirements and ensures trading orders are executed with the highest degree of accuracy and time efficiency
  • Assigns accounts to pre-defined trading models and administers trades based on product guidelines
  • Operates as a market maker, buying and selling financial instruments in accordance with established trading strategies and risk parameters
Qualifications
  • Minimum 6+ years of experience in Rates Trading, Treasury or CAD FX.
  • Strong knowledge of interest rate products, including swaps, forwards, government bonds, and related derivatives.
  • Proven ability to manage risk, price markets, and execute trades in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Solid understanding of market structure, liquidity dynamics, and linkage to global rates (e.g., USD rates environment).
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics or a related field is preferred
  • Strong analytical and technical skill set combined with sound trading instinct and judgment.
  • Ability to articulate views on market trends, macro drivers, and relative value opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Sales, Structuring, and global trading teams.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and make informed decisions in volatile market conditions.
