Job summary

Walmart Canada Corp in St. Catharines, ON, is seeking a Self-Checkout Attendant to assist customers at the self-service area and deliver exceptional service, contributing to a positive shopping experience and loyalty.

This role requires the associate to be 18 or older and to have completed required training to handle alcohol products. You will keep the self-checkout area clean, educate customers on using the kiosks, promote sponsor programs, monitor activity for needed help, and escalate issues

Responsibilities

• Keep the self-checkout area NC O area clean and free of fixtures, debris, and liquids.
• Educate customers on the correct and efficient use of self-service options.
• Promote sponsor programs, such as credit card service, product protection and charity initiatives.
• Observe customer activity to determine when and if assistance is needed.
• Explain quality checks and interventions while reassuring customers that these checks are normal.
• Demonstrate knowledge about responding to EAS alarms and completing the 'Failure to Deactivate' Log.
• Call the Customer Service Manager when the self-service area is low on cash or has a technical issue.
• Return Scan & Go scanners to their home after use.

Job description

A Self-Checkout Attendant assists customers in the processing of transactions through the self-service area(s) and provides exceptional customer service in order to ensure a positive shopping experience and drive customer loyalty, while maintaining exemplary customer service by adhering to the Basic Beliefs and values of Wal-Mart. This associate is over the age of 18 and has successfully completed required training to handle alcohol products.

What you'll do...

• Keeping the area N.C.O. and free of fixtures, unnecessary debris, foreign objects, and liquids.
• Educating customers on the correct and efficient use of self-service options, when applicable.
• Promoting company sponsor programs, i.e., credit card service, product protection and charity initiatives, when applicable.
• Observing the activities of a customer to determine when and if assistance is needed.
• When self-service interventions and quality checks are required, politely explaining the reasons for the intervention or quality checks while positively reassuring customers that periodic quality checks and interventions are normal protocol when using self-serve checkout options.
• Demonstrating knowledge about responding to EAS alarms and filling out the "Failure to Deactivate" Log.
• Calling the Customer Service Manager when the self-service area(s) is low on cash or has a technical issue.
• Returning Scan & Go scanners to their home after use.

The minimum rate of pay for this position starts from $17.75.
