Job summary

Walmart Canada is seeking a Self‑Checkout Attendant to provide friendly, efficient service in the self‑checkout area, helping customers complete transactions and enjoy a smooth shopping experience. You will maintain area standards, promote Walmart programs, assist customers at self-checkout, respond to EAS alarms, manage Scan & Go equipment, and be flexible to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

This role requires being 16 or older and able to lift up to 20 lb and work in a fast‑paced retail

• Respond to EAS Alerts and complete documentation: respond to alarms and log failures.
• Manage Scan & Go Equipment: return scanners to storage after use.
• Flexibility (Availability/Work Schedule): be open to evenings, weekends and holidays.

What You’ll Do

Maintain Self Checkout Area Standards – Maintains a clean, safe, and organized self checkout area, ensuring it remains free of fixtures, unnecessary debris, foreign objects, and spills.

Promote Walmart Programs and Initiatives

Supports the promotion of company sponsored programs, including credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives, when applicable.

Support Customers at Self Checkout

Helps customers use self checkout quickly and confidently by offering assistance when needed, monitoring activity, and completing required checks. Clearly explain any interventions in a friendly, reassuring way and escalation cash or technical issues to the Customer Service Manager.

Respond to EAS Alerts and Complete Documentation

Responds to EAS alarms in accordance with procedures and accurately completes the “Failure to Deactivate” log.

Manage Scan & Go Equipment

Ensures Scan & Go scanners are returned to their designated storage locations after use.

Flexibility (Availability/Work Schedule)

• Be open to working a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs. Your adaptability helps ensure the store runs smoothly and customers receive consistent, high-quality service.

Physical Demands

• Performs physical tasks such as standing for extended periods, bending, and lifting inventory, equipment, or supplies weighing up to 20 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Performs repetitive tasks such as stocking, zoning, and organizing products with attention to detail and consistency to uphold store standards.
