Job summary

Walmart Canada Corp in Thompson, MB is seeking a General Merchandise Team Leader to assist in leading department processes, respond to inquiries, and develop associates through teaching and training. The role emphasizes customer service while ensuring tasks are completed on the sales floor.

You will plan and execute department activities based on workload and operational functions, and assist on the sales floor as required. The minimum rate starts at CAD 20.75 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent Customer Service by greeting customers, assisting with products, locating merchandise, and resolving issues.
• Direct and coordinate task completion per priorities from General Merchandise Coach and Store Management; delegate and follow up on daily Availability tasks.
• Assess department presentation and merchandising; implement display changes and address deficiencies.
• Maintain strong communication; lead daily Team Huddle, share updates, set goals, and track productivity.
• Review completed schedules with People Lead.
• Assign associates to cover shifts across store areas and monitor coverage.
• Identify training opportunities; develop associates through teaching and feedback.
• Maintain a safe, clean, hazard-free environment per policy; ensure displays/fixtures are secure.
• Complete GTA/Workday tasks; support Management.
• Support recruitment, hiring, and growth conversations with Coaches/People Leads.

Position Summary...

Assists in the leadership of the General Merchandise areas and department processes, respond to problems and inquiries, and develop associates through teaching and training. Ensure a high level of customer service while ensuring task completion.

What you'll do...

1. Providing excellent Customer Service by greeting all customers in a polite and friendly manner, assisting customers by promoting products/services, locating merchandise and making purchase decisions, resolving customer issues and referring concerns where appropriate.
2. Assists in providing direction and the co-ordination of task completion as per communicated priorities from the General Merchandise Coach and the Store Management Team. Delegate, assist and follow-up on completion of daily Customer Availability process tasks.
3. Assesses the overall presentation of General Merchandise Departments and appearance, noting deficiencies for corrective action and executing merchandising display changes where required.
4. Ensures strong communication with associates, leads the daily Team Huddle at the start of each shift and provide the team with updates, set goals, and track productivity.
5. Review completed schedules with People Lead.
6. Assign Associates to support with coverage and availability tasks in all areas of the store.
7. Tours assigned areas with the Coach and team associates to validate and identify training opportunities. Develops associates through teaching and training and provides feedback as needed
8. Contributes to a safe, clean and hazard free work environment through adherence to Company policy and procedures, including the completion of safety sweep logs and ensuring displays and fixtures are secure and free of debris.
9. Complete GTA/Workday tasks and supports Management.
10. Partner with Coach/People Lead to facilitate performance management and growth conversations for Associates. Supports recruiting and hiring new associates.

The minimum rate of pay for this position starts from $20.75.
