Position Summary
To support the Store Manager and manage store operations according to Company guidelines, leading Associates to ensure friendly, helpful service and drive profitable store sales.
What you'll do
- Sales and Financial Management: Drive profitable sales through achievement of sales and profit goals, budget management, and sales forecasts. Analyze and utilize sales/financial reports, economic trends, and community needs to identify and respond to market changes while controlling expenditures. Communicate sales results to associates and guide interpretation of results.
- Operational Planning and Store Standards: Collaborate with the Management Team to create operational plans; prioritize, delegate, and provide clear direction to Managers and Associates. Ensure optimal store conditions through effective merchandise presentation, accurate and competitive pricing, and adherence to store standards within Company policies. Implement new store programs and evaluate their effectiveness. Cross-train as needed in all store areas.
- Asset Protection and Safety: Execute and monitor asset protection and safety controls; maintain quality assurance standards; oversee safety and operational reviews; ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Proactively address compliance issues, including Total Loss controls.
- Customer Service: Serve as an ambassador by greeting customers, seeking feedback, and resolving issues within Company guidelines to create a positive shopping experience. Model and enforce friendly and helpful customer service techniques.
- Community Engagement: Support store initiatives to serve the community by participating in events, developing relationships with community groups, and supporting sustainability efforts.
- Team Leadership and Development: Conduct regular store meetings, communicate operational initiatives, and foster engagement. Recognize and reward accomplishments. Develop associates and identify high-potential employees, providing training and growth opportunities.
- Performance Management and Relationships: Hold Associates accountable through feedback and corrective actions. Build relationships with supporting functions like HR.
- Compliance and Merchandise Handling: Ensure compliance with standards when handling merchandise such as alcohol, ammunition, narcotics, and high-ticket items. Manage cash controls effectively, handling up to $250,000 daily.
