Job summary

Nova Scotia Community College is seeking a Campus Library Technician (Strait Area Campus) in Port Hawkesbury, NS, to support library services and technology. The position runs full-time from approximately October 13, 2026, to March 31, 2027, with an application deadline of September 29, 2026.

You will assist students and staff with research, access to resources, and technology support, using Alma, Primo VE, Office 365, and LMS tools, while promoting equitable, accessible library services.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Library and Information Technology required.
• Minimum of one year full-time library experience; academic library experience a plus.
• Experience serving diverse user groups.
• Familiarity with library service platforms (Alma) and discovery (Primo VE); LibApps e.g., LibGuides.
• Strong computer literacy: Office 365 and LMS experience; Pressbooks asset.
• Comfort with digital tools and learning technologies; commitment to tech-enabled work.
• Copyright and OER experience asset.
• Experience with assistive technologies (AFTs, TTS) asset.

Responsibilities

• Promote and support Library and Learning Commons services, programs, and events.
• Provide on-site and online research and reference assistance to students, faculty, staff, and community.
• Use shared systems (e.g., Alma) for processing materials, loans, interlibrary loan, and reserves.
• Support Accessible Format Texts (AFTs) and supply required materials.
• Provide technology support for Brightspace, Office 365, Pressbooks, printers and scanners.
• Maintain accurate circulation data and assist with deselection projects.
• Collaborate across Libraries and Learning Commons on college-wide initiatives.
• Support campus events, orientations, and convocation.
