Job summary

Fanshawe College in Ontario seeks an HVAC Technician to maintain and repair campus HVAC and refrigeration systems, ensuring comfortable environments for students and staff. You will respond to temperature-related issues and support building automation for energy conservation.

The role requires current refrigeration and air conditioning certifications, 5 years of related experience, and ability to travel between Fanshawe locations. A proactive team player with strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of recent experience in industrial and/or commercial refrigeration, air-conditioning, heating and building automation systems.
• Ability to travel between Fanshawe locations and valid Ontario G driver’s licence.
• Proficiency with computer and mobile technology for managing work orders, building automation and safety procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to prioritize workload.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair HVAC systems up to 400,000 BTU to ensure comfort across campus facilities.
• Respond rapidly to environmental temperature complaints and HVAC/refrigeration breakdowns.
• Program and adjust building automation systems to support energy conservation.
• Prepare equipment layouts, estimates, and schedules for HVAC installations and upgrades.
• Provide HVAC expertise to the Emergency Response Team during incidents.
• Collaborate with other trades to ensure smooth project execution.
• Ensure compliance with Ontario Building Codes, Fire Codes and safety regulations.
