Job summary

Aramark Canada is hiring part-time food prep positions on Queen's University main campus. The role assists cooks by preparing ingredients and performing food prep tasks according to recipes and guidelines while adhering to food safety and sanitation procedures.

Responsibilities include following prep lists, rotating food, storing leftovers, maintaining clean work areas, and ensuring safety standards. Flexible shifts and potential changes to duties may occur.

Qualifications

• Minimum one-year prep work or food service-related work preferred.
• Knowledge of various food prep methods and food safety regulations such as proper handling, sanitation, and storage preferred.
• One or more years of cooking, line cooking or commercial kitchen experience preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and food safety procedures.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Able to frequently lift and carry up to 50 lb.
• Able to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, late nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepares all food items using prep lists and standard Aramark recipes.
• Maintains accurate rotation of food to assure top quality and freshness.
• Manages leftover foods correctly; cover, label, date, and accurately store according to Aramark standards.
• Maintains clean and orderly refrigerators and work areas.
• Ensures stations are cleaned, sanitized, and organized at the end of the shift (including cleaning of kitchen equipment).
• Maintains a safe and sanitary work environment that conforms to all food safety standards and regulations.
• Follows safety policies and accident reporting procedures.
• Completes all required training.
