Job summary

Western University is seeking a Cook for a full-time sessional opportunity from September to April. The Cook will prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner in a fast-paced dining environment with attention to quality and presentation.

Responsibilities include following production schedules, taking inventory, serving foods to customers, and maintaining food safety practices. Candidates should have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and a culinary program (preferred), with 1 year of cooking experience

Qualifications

• Education: Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
• Culinary program or courses in culinary arts preferred
• 1 year of cooking experience in a commercial or institutional environment

Responsibilities

• Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner items with attention to colour, texture, quality and presentation
• Follow production schedules and ensure sufficient quantities are prepared to meet demand
• Take inventory, clean equipment and maintain kitchen cleanliness
• Serve prepared foods to customers and resolve immediate concerns
• Adhere to WHMIS, HACCP and food safety practices
