Job summary

KF Aerospace – Kelowna invites applications for a Barista/Kitchen Helper on a casual basis, 16–24 hours per week. The role blends coffee service with light kitchen prep in Convair Café, in one of KF Aerospace's working hangars.

Open Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, with opening or closing shifts. You’ll provide friendly customer service, operate the POS, assist cooks, and help maintain a clean, organized café.

Qualifications

• Prior customer service experience in hospitality.
• Basic food preparation and handling skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work under pressure and multi-task.
• Knowledge of POS systems and cash handling.
• Strong teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

• Take customer orders and use the POS system.
• Brew coffee and make specialty drinks.
• Bake pre-prepared items and present pastries.
• Box up orders and assist with basic food prep.
• Move between barista and kitchen to support operations.
• Restock ingredients and supplies.
• Deliver meals to dine-in guests and clear tables.
• Perform general cleaning and opening/closing duties.
• Support café and kitchen as needed.

Convair Café is situated in one of the working hangars of KF Aerospace. We offer a unique aircraft inspired dine-in experience serving high quality food and drinks to our onsite employees as well as external customers.

JOB OVERVIEW

Do you provide great customer service and have experience in the food and beverage industry? Bring these skills to our Barista/Kitchen Helper position!

We are looking for an outgoing person with excellent customer service skills. Someone who also enjoys getting hands-on in the kitchen with food prep as needed.

Applicants will need to demonstrate an ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to multi-task while maintaining positive customer interactions.

JOB DUTIES

• Taking customer’s orders and using the POS system
• Brewing coffee and making specialty drinks (previous experience not required)
• Baking pre-prepared items and presenting baked goods in the pastry case nicely
• Boxing-up food orders from the pastry cabinet
• Assist the Cook with basic food preparation, order assembly, and plating
• Float between the barista station and kitchen throughout the shift, providing support wherever operational needs are greatest
• Restock ingredients, beverages, condiments, packaging, and supplies for both the café and kitchen
• Run food orders to dine-in guests and clearing tables
• General cleaning (e.g. washing dishes, restocking condiments, weekly cleaning tasks)
• Opening and closing duties
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the café and kitchen

REQUIREMENTS

• Prior customer service experience, ideally in a hospitality setting
• Basic food preparation and food handling skills
• Must have a driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain positive customer service
• Knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems
• Ability to work and communicate well with a team

HOURS OF WORK

Convair Café is open Monday to Friday from 8:30am - 3:30pm. Shifts vary and can be between 7:00am (for opening shifts) and/or 4:00pm for closing shifts.

We are looking for new team members to join us on a Casual basis (approximately 16-24 hours per week). You will need a driver’s license and your own transport.
