Cafe Manager

The Praguery brings a unique Dessert Café concept to North America with a focus on real ingredients and flavors. Founded in 2017 in Vancouver, BC by Jaroslav Mestka, The Praguery started as a food truck and has expanded into brick-and-mortar cafés serving freshly baked chimney cakes, house-made soft-serve, and artisan coffee.

The perfect hire for this position will manage with passion, dedication and integrity all aspects of The Praguery Cafe’s operations, supporting the hard working, purpose driven founder of The Praguery brand.

You will report to the founder and elevate The Praguery Cafe’s brand awareness and presence by taking on operational responsibilities for the cafe like it is your own business and investment because you are super passionate about entrepreneurship, fresh, delicious ice cream and you really love the taste of success!

Our ideal candidate has franchising experience, but it is not a requirement. You must be passionate about being a part of an emerging, high growth brand and during the interviews we will ask you to provide examples of real world, revenue growing, people management and leadership results, asking you how you delivered.

For The Praguery Cafe, brand growth goes beyond revenue. Developing customer loyalty, raving fans and supporting our communities are non-negotiables and we will ask for examples where you delivered results of this kind.

Your Mission and Your Scorecard Responsibilities:

In one sentence, you are responsible for Driving Results and Generating, on average, 170transactions per day! This is what get’s you out of bed everyday because you want to the cafe and team to thrive. We know this number of transactions means revenues are healthy, but you also need to manage employee costs, schedules, food costs to achieve the gross and net revenue goals.

To ensure our customers receive The Praguery experience we are famous for you will be taught how to Deliver our Exceptional Praguery Customer Experience. You will be measured on # of Google Reviews / Month, the Cafe’s Google Review Score, the number of Return Customer and the number of Referred Customers.

You are accountable for Employee Hiring, Onboarding and Training, and ensuring employee shift schedules are clear, communicated and understood by all employees. With a passion for organization and process improvement, you will eventually take on Operations Manual Improvements and Process Leadership.

You will suggest operations manual updates that can be used and understood for all existing and new locations. You will review cafe, category, product reports weekly and adjust cafe operations to maximize results and understand monthly financial reports and take actions to drive cafe growth and profitability.

You will make sure all head office employee systems, including financial and employee management systems are used. In the future, we expect the number of locations to increase in volume, so there may be regional management growth opportunities ahead.

  • Closet foodie and super passionate about ice cream and knowledgeable of the market;.
  • Proven work experience in marketing and operations;
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills;
  • Budget and financial management skills;
  • Extroverted, yet communicated diplomatically;
  • Incredible at relationship building;
  • Fanatical about customer experience. Leaves everyone better off;
  • PR savvy - press release and interview friendly;
  • Loves operational efficiencies, and always finding a more efficient way!;
  • Structured and with systems in place;
  • Likes to develop documented standardized templates;
  • Great sense of prioritizing important tasks, small or large;
  • Comfortable working with a smaller team but with high growth atmosphere;
  • Charity work and contribution to community;
  • Takes an idea and generates options versus just taking instruction;
  • Can have fierce and crucial conversations yet still maintain a powerful, connected relationship;

Details & Compensation:

  • Full time;
  • Working weekends and some evenings are required;
  • Compensation Range: $55,000 to $65,000+ CAD/year
