Junior Buyer

Working closely with the purchasing supervisor, this role offers development opportunities, providing exposure to Linamar’s global Purchasing policies and strategies. The goal is to develop employees into senior buyers at either a corporate or plant level. The role involves supporting procurement and consolidation of MRO and Consumable purchases, including contract negotiations, volume linking, contract renewal or cancellation, sourcing new suppliers, quality assessment, attending CAT and PAT meetings, benchmarking globally, crisis management support, and collaboration with internal stakeholders.

Performance Expectations

1. Support and demonstrate Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors.
2. Promote an open, collaborative environment aligned with the ONE TEAM – ONE LINAMAR philosophy.
3. Reduce purchase costs by leveraging spend, using VA/VE and value stream mapping to eliminate waste.
4. Become an expert in your commodity, understanding supply options, cost analysis, and benchmarking supplier processes.
5. Develop sourcing strategies balancing cost, quality, and risk, including alternative sourcing to mitigate risks.
6. Establish long-term supply agreements with key clauses enforced.
7. Identify new supply sources offering competitive solutions.
8. Review purchase orders for accuracy and contract compliance.
9. Support plants in crisis management related to quality and delivery issues.
10. Act as liaison between suppliers and plants when needed.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Credentials

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience with practical and theoretical knowledge.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and communicate technical info effectively.

• Strong communication skills internally and externally.
• Proficient computer skills, including ERPs, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint.
