Reporting to the
Procurement & Inventory Manager, the
Junior Buyer is responsible for negotiating contracts and volume discounts with suppliers, managing requisitions and purchase orders, and supporting procurement for both internal and customer needs. Also leads supplier optimization and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is part of the Procurement Team located in
Guelph, Viqua and will be
onsite.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
- Plans and manages MRP requirements based on production needs
- Issues purchase orders and supports timely receipt of goods
- Reviews pricing and negotiates supplier contracts
- Evaluates supplier performance on cost and delivery
- Coordinates with Engineering on new product launches
- Maintains supplier relationships to ensure inventory flow
- Prepares reports and manages procurement projects
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
- 1–3 years of buying experience in manufacturing
- Proficient in MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
- Proactive, with ability to manage multiple priorities and complex tasks independently
