Job description

The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada’s largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with seven other operating mines in the United States, Mexico and Brazil.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Buyer to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Buyer, the Buyer supports all departments in the mining operation by sourcing and purchasing materials, equipment, and services in a timely and cost-effective manner. Working closely with site teams, the Buyer helps ensure operational needs are met while maintaining supplier relationships, managing contracts, and following procurement policies and safety standards.

This position is remote with monthly visits to the mine site in Geraldton, Ontario, with possibility of additional time as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procure Inventory, Services, Direct Charge, Consignment and Repairables in line with site requirements.
  • Request quotations and proposals for goods or services as required by the business.
  • For Urgent Orders, set up and actively monitor vendors to ensure on time delivery.
  • Prepare and analyze spend reports to support cost control strategies.
  • Conduct and lead sourcing activities in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Support the Supply Chain department with agreement formation.
  • Create and maintain Outline Agreements in SAP, validate current agreement pricing for preferred vendors and update Info Records.
  • Validate and update vendors in contractor management software.
  • Confirm vendor delivery times versus requirement dates, process Advance Ship Notices (ASN), and expedite.
  • Create new vendors and maintain vendor records.
  • Foster and develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with inventory management procedures and processes relating to minimizing direct buy products.
  • Assist with creation, maintenance, and management of contracts.
  • Assist accounts payable in resolving discrepancies and supporting on-time payments.
  • Compile, review, and action daily task reports.
  • Become a proficient user of the SAP system used for all aspects of procurement in the Supply Chain.
  • Communicate and demonstrate our mission and values.
Required Experience and Skill Set
  • 3+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain in the mining industry.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Operational Procurement, Contract administration, Account Payable processes, and ERP systems.
  • Able to prepare, analyze and present data in a structured and logical format.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office, with a high proficiency in Excel.
  • SAP experience is an asset.
