Job summary

Gescan, a long-standing member of the Sonepar group, seeks a Buyer to manage purchase orders and stock levels across branches in Western Canada. The role focuses on timely procurement, economical sourcing, and improving stock control while maintaining strong vendor relationships.

The Buyer will review reports, resolve PO and transfer discrepancies, and coordinate with sales teams to ensure accurate delivery dates. This is an on-site role in Canada with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Post secondary courses in Purchasing preferred.
• Supply Chain certification (APICS, Operations or related) an asset.
• Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office required.

Responsibilities

• Purchase material for inventory and non-stock items for branches and customer orders.
• Review purchasing reports to ensure timely stock purchases from economical vendors.
• Review warehouse transfer reports to ensure stock replenishment.
• Review and resolve Warehouse Transfer and Purchase Order exceptions, discrepancies and errors.
• Expedite and follow-up open purchase orders and maintain delivery dates in the system.
• Communicate unusual or extended delivery dates to BM, CSM or Sales Representative.
• Follow-up on open warehouse transfers and Purchase Orders including unprinted ones.
• Resolve accounting issues for PO’s and PORM’s where discrepancies exist.
• Review lost sales and stockout reports and adjust inventory levels accordingly.
• Assist with stock rotations as needed.
• Maintain beneficial vendor relationships.

Scope:

The Buyer is responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders and delivery of materials to meet customer order requirements and maintain stock inventory levels for our branches within approved guidelines.

Responsibilities:

• Reviewing warehouse transfer reports to ensure timely replenishment of stock.
• Review and resolve Warehouse Transfer and Purchase Order exceptions, discrepancies and errors.
• Expedite and follow-up open purchase orders and maintain up to date delivery dates in the system.
• Communicate to BM, CSM or Sales Representative unusual or extended delivery dates.
• Follow-up on open warehouse transfers and Purchase Orders including ones not printed.

Education & Training:

• High School Diploma required.
• Post secondary courses in Purchasing preferred.

Experience

• Up to 3 years related experience.
• Distribution buying for multiple locations an asset.
