Job Title : Analyst, Business Systems Analyst

Department : IT

Reports To : Associate, IT Project Management

Date : March 2025

Overview

The Analyst, Business Systems Analyst plays a key role in supporting and enhancing business applications, acting as a subject matter expert throughout the project lifecycle. This includes application performance management, issue resolution, change implementation, and requirements gathering. The role also involves collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals, regulatory compliance, and effective communication.

This position requires a strong understanding of financial services operations, including compliance, front-office transaction processing, treasury management, and back-office processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application Support & Project Management
  • Provide application support and manage performance issues.
  • Act as a liaison between business units and technology teams.
  • Participate in working groups, analyze change requirements, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the NY division and manage vendor relationships for supported applications.
  • Own and resolve escalations, including root cause analysis and preventive measures.
  • Business Analysis (60–70%)
  • Gather and document business and IT requirements.
  • Support system development lifecycle activities including testing, implementation, training, and documentation.
  • Design and create reports and queries using SQL, Power BI, or other BI tools.
  • Assist in developing EUC tools based on business and regulatory needs.
  • Conduct process mapping and data analysis to support decision-making.
  • Issue Management (30%)
  • Monitor and resolve application issues.
  • Provide user support and training.
  • Identify and implement technology modifications to meet evolving business needs.

Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to all internal policies and regulatory requirements, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) policies.
  • Complete all mandatory training on time.

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (preferably in Technology or related discipline).
  • 1–3 years of experience in business systems analysis, application support, or related roles in banking / financial services.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Strong process mapping and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive problem-solver.
  • Understanding of financial institutions and regulatory reporting (e.g., DTCC, EFT Reporting).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with DTCC (Derivatives Reporting), FINTRAC EFT Reporting, and Document Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with SAS and governance-related application support.
  • Experience with Power BI or other business intelligence tools.
  • Ability to create mapping documents and EUC tools.
  • Exposure to compliance, treasury, and back-office banking operations.
  • Knowledge of cross-border collaboration, especially with U.S. divisions.

The pay range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000 per year.
