The Role: Business Network Director
YPO is seeking a Business Network Director (BND) to lead the strategic development and management of assigned Business Networks. The BND will be a key business content expert, strategic thought leader, and operations manager, collaborating closely with the Business Network’s Executive Committee to expand member engagement and value. This role involves guiding strategy formulation and implementation, creating global learning opportunities, and fostering meaningful connections among our members.
What You’ll Do:
- Strategic Leadership: Serve as an advisor to the Network Chair and Board, developing a global engagement strategy that aligns with YPO’s broader goals and maximizes member value.
- Operational Management: Direct the execution of the network’s global strategy, managing its financial health and engagement metrics, and forecasting operational budgets.
- Global Learning & Engagement: Design and implement learning initiatives and engagement opportunities tailored to YPO members, leveraging a world-class virtual community platform.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work with internal teams, including Member Experience, Insights, Marketing, and Global Events, to deliver high-quality network experiences and ensure consistent, effective communication.
- Network Development & Succession Planning: Ensure smooth onboarding, training, and support for executive committee officers and maintain succession plans for key leadership roles.
- Event & Partnership Coordination: Partner with Global Events and Strategic Alliances to deliver impactful events and develop partnerships that elevate the member experience.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years in account management, strategy, or consulting with demonstrated success working with Boards and C-level executives.
- Association/Membership Experience: Background in governance, marketing, events, or social media management in a membership organization.
- Leadership & Financial Acumen: Proven financial management skills and experience in budget analysis, decision-making, and contract execution.
- Event/Program Management: Experience in global event and learning program development preferred.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred)
- CMP or PMP certification is preferred; additional training in negotiation, dispute resolution, or coaching is advantageous.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-cultural organization with international members, helping them achieve excellence in voluntary roles for YPO initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong diplomacy skills with the ability to build meaningful relationships with all levels of associates, members, and vendors. Adaptable, insightful, empathetic and reliable. Great sense of humor and humility.
- Able to maintain discretion and integrity of confidential information.
- Resourceful and able to work independently with initiative and good judgment. Effective time management, organization, and prioritization skills with the ability to focus on varied projects.
- Possess a distinct global mindset, sensitive to local and international customs and protocols.
- Able to identify problems, research alternatives, provide solutions, and/or resolve issues in a timely manner. Anticipates member needs and delivers with clarity.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to influence and guide processes with appropriate approach and execution. Natural curiosity and desire to learn more; proficiency and interest in applying new technologies and tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading, with meticulous attention to detail. Adjusts communication style appropriately to the audience.
- Professional presence, appearance, and stature to interact easily with YPO members, C-level executives, and high-profile corporate leaders.
