The Business Development Specialist creates value for the organization by leading initiatives to grow company and community engagement for the purpose of volunteer recruitment, in kind contributions, and funding opportunities. There is the possibility the scope of this work could extend into Regina & Area.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Community Engagement
- Create and execute strategic business development plan for the purpose of recruitment and community engagement which includes operational work plan and key performance indicators.
- Research current volunteerism trends across Canada and Saskatchewan
- Market analysis to identify business and volunteer conditions, challenges, solutions and growth opportunities
- Create prosect list and execute asks which could include warm leads or cold calling for the purpose of recruitment, in kind donations, and 3rd party events.
- Remain knowledgeable on the volunteer opportunities within the BBBS programs.
- Arranging and attending meetings and presentations with prospects, preparing collateral, and drafting agreements.
- Attend networking events and opportunities for the purpose of connecting with potential partners
- Stewardship plan to ensure partner retention.
- Consult on intake processes and ongoing volunteer support.
- Train BBBS team members on recruitment tactics.
- Analyze internal volunteer data and social media analytics and prepare reports.
Marketing & Communications
- Responsible for developing, implementing and measuring the success of BBBS’ integrated marketing and communications plan
- Communications and recognition plan to ensure that volunteers are appropriately recognized to maximize volunteer retention
- Create and implement an annual social media strategy
- Ensure maintenance of website
- Plan and create monthly e-newsletter
- Support the design and development of BBBS’ Annual Report
- Lead annual BBBS marketing campaigns
General
- Other general duties as determined by the Executive Director
What We're Looking For
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and familiarity with editing software such as Adobe inDesign and Canva
- Knowledge of WordPress, Mailchimp, and donor database software.
- Advanced knowledge of copywriting and audience engagement analytics
- Understanding of the work schedule of non-profits
Education
- Degree or diploma in Communications, PR, Recruitment, or related field
- Equivalent experience will be considered
Experience
- 3–5 years in business development, marketing, or recruitment
- Social media campaign management and donor stewardship
- Community outreach and corporate engagement experience
- Graphic design
- Familiarity with Regina’s community is considered an asset
