Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Calgary seeks a Business Development Manager for Power Transformers to drive profitable growth across Western Canada. You will collaborate with the VP, sales teams, and manufacturing partners to shape strategies and align customers with shared priorities, ensuring a reliable power infrastructure for Canada.

Qualifications

  • Work authorization to work in Canada.
  • Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business management or related field.
  • Experience building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to align cross-functional teams around shared goals.
  • English spoken/written required; French is a plus.
  • Product management and negotiation experience; knowledge of the Canadian market is an asset.

  • Develop and support profitable sales growth for the Power Transformer business across Western Canada.
  • Create and execute business plans aligned with strategic priorities, budgets, and growth targets.
  • Identify new market segments and growth initiatives through market research and customer insights.
  • Develop action plans to support expansion and long-term commercial success.
  • Conduct market studies and marketing activities to support priorities and engagement.
  • Gather customer and competitor insights to inform planning and direction.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer to supplying factories.
  • Support sales teams with presentations, proposals, training, and responses to RFPs.
  • Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and guidelines.

Business Development Manager - Power Transformers

As a Business Development Manager for Transformers, you will play a key role in supporting the growth and long-term success of Hitachi Energy's transformer business in Western Canada. Working closely with the Vice President - Transformers, the sales teams, and manufacturing partners, you will help shape and execute business strategies that support profitable growth while strengthening customer relationships and market presence. In this role, you will identify new business opportunities, evaluate market trends, support commercial initiatives, and help align customers, sales teams, and supplying factories around shared priorities. Your work will contribute to the development of reliable power infrastructure by ensuring customers have access to transformer solutions that support the evolving needs of Canada's electrical grid. This is an opportunity to combine market knowledge, strategic planning, customer engagement, and cross-functional collaboration to influence business growth and help advance the future of energy.

How You'll Make an Impact

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your Background
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.
  • Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in business management or a related field.
  • Experience building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to align cross-functional teams, including sales organizations and manufacturing partners, around shared goals and priorities.
  • Spoken and written proficiency in English is required, communication skills in French is considered an asset.
  • Product management experience, negotiation experience, and knowledge of the Canadian market are considered strong assets.
