Position Summary:

This is a challenging role that requires established skills, as well as a basic understanding of the internal operations related to the real estate, design, and construction market segments. The successful candidate is a highly motivated, collaboration oriented, and personable individual. The candidate can establish, strategize towards, and achieve new business objectives to succeed in a highly competitive industry using their innovative approach and effective communication skills. Our ideal Business Development candidate will have experience in the leasehold improvement sector and can quickly gain trust in the market and be able to establish and maintain strong relationships.Experience and/or understanding of the leasehold improvement market sector is a strong asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the business development program and initiatives in the Ottawa region, while being accountable for the deliverables and outcomes.
  • Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and capturing new business opportunities
  • Develop relationships that will lead to and generate business opportunities, from within the real estate, design, and project management communities.
  • Participate in the development of strategic business targets for negotiated and tendered opportunities.
  • Responsible for analyzing regional pipeline of work and ensuring yearly goals are met.
  • Establish and maintain positive business relationships with clients.
  • Create and lead presentations highlighting insights and strategy in the pursuit of BD targets
  • Assist in proposal creation, contract negotiations, and presentations.
  • Develop innovative public relations and/or promotional programs to generate corporate awareness within the specific target audience.
  • Work within and have a deep understanding of a CRM program and provide regular updates on strategic progress and forecast updates.
  • Support the transition from project pursuit to project implementation.
  • Network within the various industry associations and gain knowledge on national and local economic trends impacting construction opportunities.

Qualifications:

·Minimum 3 years of business development experience, preferable in the construction, project management, commercial real estate, architectural and design or similar.

· Strong verbal and written communication skills with advanced presentation skills.

· Detailed understanding of contract development work with the ability to understand, analyze and apply data.

· Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability, as a business developer, to winning work.

· Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, adapt to changing priorities, maintain patience in high pressure situations and take initiative where appropriate.

· Strong negotiation skills, basic understanding of contracts and leases

· Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Microsoft Project

· Minimum of 3 years working with CRM platforms.

· Completion of degree or diploma in a recognized construction discipline such as BID, B.Arch, B.Eng, etc. is an asset
