Overview
As one of the fastest-growing testing, inspection, and certification businesses in the world, Element has an opportunity for a Business Development Manager based in Vancouver, Canada, to join our expanding Western Canada team. In this role, you will be responsible for pursuing sales opportunities to sell the full breadth of Element services within specified accounts to meet their assigned budget. You will support strategic or key accounts within your territory with activities needed at local sites.
Responsibilities
- Drive sales expansion by identifying and onboarding new clients while re-engaging with dormant accounts across Western Canada.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with existing strategic and key client accounts to uncover additional growth opportunities and revenue streams, through understanding client project scopes and applying related analytical services.
- Own lead generation, deal negotiation, and agreement closure in the B2B sales cycle, collaborating with Project Management and Lab Operations teams to ensure a successful client experience.
- Gather and analyze market and industry intelligence, metrics, and trends to influence sales approach and differentiate Element as an industry leader and testing partner of choice.
- Prepare reports and presentations showing sales volume by sector, region, location, potential sales, and areas for client base expansion.
- Follow up promptly on quotations for the assigned customer base.
- Achieve sales goals by converting, retaining, and penetrating accounts.
- Utilize CRM actively to record activities, ensuring contact details are accurate, duplicates are removed, new information is added, and call/visit logs are entered.
- Participate in regular pipeline reviews, ensuring CRM records are up to date and critical success factors are identified for key opportunities.
- Build and maintain knowledge of Element's service offerings; participate in training and coaching opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all Element policies, including Terms and Conditions, trade compliance, conduct, and the employee handbook.
- Adhere to all applicable laws related to safety, environment, and corporate governance.
Skills / Qualifications
- 5-7 years of B2B sales experience in a professional environment, with monthly targets focused on new lead generation and sales pipeline development.
- Post-secondary education (certificate, diploma, degree) or relevant experience with professional development.
- Clear, confident, and proactive communication skills to foster internal cooperation and gain client trust.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, including Dynamics AX, CRM, Word, and Excel.
- Availability, flexibility, and maturity to represent the company at various events, projects, and within the community.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure related to deadlines and priorities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for diverse needs.
- Motivated to learn about environmental industries, technical lab processes, and Element services.
- Reliable transportation to meet site visits and ability to travel overnight approximately 15% of the time.
- Asset qualifications include industry-related experience or education, especially in lab services or environmental sectors.
