Job Summary

The Business Development Manager establishes and expands ECS’s market presence and builds strategic partnerships, driving revenue growth in the energy storage and clean-tech sector. This role executes, evaluates and implements the company’s go-to-market strategy—securing early customers, partnerships, and supporting funding efforts—while shaping ECS’s revenue and long-term growth strategy. Understanding the importance of achieving key performance indicators, the Business Development Manager creates and executes strategies to achieve revenue goals, capture market share, build strong client pipelines, maintain partnerships and achieve customer acquisition and retention metrics. This individual will be responsible for increasing the company’s brand awareness and inbound inquiries, while obtaining customer feedback and analyzing the product-market fit. This key individual will support the funding process by contributing to securing investment rounds and demonstrating sustainable growth potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify key initial target markets, develop penetration strategies, secure pilot projects and build long-term brand recognition.
  • Create and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders —suppliers, distributors, investors, and accelerators—to strengthen market positioning.
  • Develop and execute revenue strategies, achieving initial sales targets while ensuring long-term scalability.
  • Build a strong pipeline of prospective clients, converting early adopters into long-term customers and validating product-market fit.
  • Create compelling messaging to build a strong company brand position, supporting investor pitches, and refining business cases for funding rounds.
  • Achieve key performance metrics that will bring sustainable revenue for the company.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field (required); MBA with a focus on entrepreneurship, strategy, or sustainable energy (preferred).
  • 3 to 5 years of work experience in a startup ecosystem or related industry such as clean tech, energy, or advanced manufacturing, ideally in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, navigate challenges, and adapt to fast-paced environments. Self-motivated and ability to navigate obstacles with persistence and creativity.
  • Proven ability to drive revenue growth through persuasive sales strategies and negotiations, aligned with market demands and long-term scalability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral and written communication to effectively engage customers and related partnerships.
