Job summary

FP Inc. is seeking a seasoned Business Analyst to lead workshops and collaborative sessions across Business, Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal, and Risk in Downtown Toronto.

You will translate regulatory requirements and client needs into deliverable product increments, ensure backlog readiness, and drive improvements in client and advisor experiences. You will guide requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria, while partnering with Product Owners and architects to deliver

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Business Analysis experience (Demonstrated experience leading requirements and analysis activities on large-scale business and technology transformation initiatives.)
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery practices including backlog refinement, story mapping, sprint planning, user story development, and acceptance criteria definition.
  • 5+ years of Experience performing current-state analysis, target-state design, gap analysis, and business process re-engineering.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and risk considerations within Wealth Management, including CIRO, AML, Fraud Management, and KYC requirements
  • Experience with Jira/Confluence, MS Visio, Excel, PPT, and Word

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Product Owner to Deliver Business Outcomes
  • Lead discovery, analysis, documentation, and refinement of business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and business rules for Agile delivery.
  • Drive backlog readiness with epics, features, and user stories sized and defined for development.
  • Analyze current-state processes, client journeys, data flows, and operational models to identify opportunities for simplification and risk reduction.
  • Facilitate workshops and collaborative sessions with stakeholders to define problems and recommend value-maximizing solutions.
  • Support product decision making using data, insights, and customer feedback while communicating impacts and risks.
  • Support Agile events including backlog refinement, sprint planning, release planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Ensure quality and business readiness by validating solutions and tracing requirements to delivery.
  • Challenge the status quo by seeking efficiency, scalability, and regulatory compliance improvements.
  • Mentor and develop team members in requirements management, Agile delivery, and stakeholder engagement.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Information Technology, or a related field

JOB DESCRIPTION

Location: Hybrid | Downtown, Toronto

Duration: 7 Months

Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for a Business Analyst - Wealth Management, Regulatory/ Riskto lead workshops and collaborative sessions with stakeholders across Business, Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal, and Risk to define problems, evaluate options, and recommend solutions that maximize business value. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.

Typical Day in the role:
Partner with the Product Owner to Deliver Business Outcomes

Work closely with the Product Owner to translate strategic priorities, business objectives, regulatory requirements, and client needs into delivery-ready product increments, ensuring alignment across business and technology teams.

Lead Business Analysis and Requirements Definition

Lead the discovery, analysis, documentation, and refinement of business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, process flows, and non-functional requirements to support successful Agile delivery.

Drive Backlog Readiness

Partner with the Product Owner, architects, designers, and technology teams to ensure epics, features, and user stories are sufficiently defined, understood, sized, and ready for development. Act as the primary point of contact for day-to-day business requirement clarification within the squad.

Analyze and Improve Client and Advisor Experiences

Evaluate current-state processes, client journeys, data flows, and operational models to identify opportunities for simplification, automation, risk reduction, and improved client, advisor, and operational experiences.

Facilitate Complex Problem Solving

Lead workshops and collaborative sessions with stakeholders across Business, Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal, and Risk to define problems, evaluate options, and recommend solutions that maximize business value.

Support Product Decision Making

Leverage data, operational insights, client feedback, and business analysis to support prioritization, trade-off decisions, and product recommendations while providing transparency on impacts, dependencies, risks, and opportunities.

Drive Delivery Excellence

Support Agile events including backlog refinement, sprint planning, release planning, reviews, and retrospectives. Ensure requirements remain aligned with business objectives throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Ensure Quality and Business Readiness

Partner with Quality Engineering and business stakeholders to validate solutions, support testing activities, ensure traceability from requirements through delivery, and confirm business readiness for release.

Challenge the Status Quo

Continuously evaluate existing processes, workflows, and solutions and recommend improvements that increase efficiency, scalability, regulatory compliance, and client value.

Mentor and Develop Team Members

Provide coaching and guidance to Business Analysts and junior team members while promoting best practices in requirements management, Agile delivery, stakeholder engagement, and problem solving.

Must Have Skills:
  • 7+ years of Business Analysis experience (Demonstrated experience leading requirements and analysis activities on large-scale business and technology transformation initiatives.)

  • Experience within Wealth Management, Asset Management, Banking, or Financial Services environments.
  • Proficiency with SQL and data analysis tools
  • Proficiency with Postman and API testing tools
Soft Skills Required:
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with experience influencing business leaders, operations partners, technology teams, and external vendors.
  • Strong facilitation skills with experience leading workshops, discovery sessions, process reviews, and solution design discussions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to leverage data to support recommendations and decision making.
  • Proven ability to bridge business strategy and technology delivery by translating complex business problems into actionable solutions.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Information Technology, or a related field.
