Job summary

RBC is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to lead requirements sessions, analyze data models, and collaborate with Product and Finance Controllers on large initiatives. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Technology or Business.
  • 5-7 years of Business Systems Analysis experience in fast-paced environment.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL and Excel for data analysis.
  • Good Capital Markets product knowledge, particularly derivatives.
  • Proven Data Analysis experience and project delivery in financial services, preferably in MS Access.
  • Understanding and experience in software development life-cycle.
  • Excellent communication skills are critical for this role.
  • Able to quickly gather, synthesize and drive resolution of project tasks in a cross-functional team.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Teamwork & Collaboration; willing to challenge ideas and brainstorm.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake BA responsibilities of multiple strategic applications involving Capital Market Products.
  • Understand modelling of financial products traded on RBC Markets and related booking/settlement concepts.
  • Analyze existing data models (MS Access) and map gaps to business requirements.
  • Lead requirements discovery, analysis, and review with business stakeholders.
  • Perform data analysis and reverse engineering to identify current and future states; map dependencies.
  • Create data flow and system context diagrams; work with development teams to ensure correct implementation.
  • Provide hands-on support during Functional, SIT, and UAT testing.
  • Adopt Agile methodologies to enable periodic implementations.
  • Manage risks, assumptions, and constraints; communicate with stakeholders.
  • Work with JIRA, Confluence, SQL; learn adhoc tools as needed.

Job Description

The Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) responsibilities will be conducting requirements gathering sessions and other BA activities with a large diverse set of Product Controllers and Finance Controllers for medium to large size project initiative and able to provide high level key deliverable plan and detail break down of major tasks; understanding the various Capital Market Products and ability to differentiate various trade economics; mapping and tracing source data to WSB applications and understanding impact; work on requirements gathering and solution design for change requests and major programs.

This position requires a lot of interpersonal interaction at all levels within the organization, from technical personnel to high level management, excellent communication skills are a must for this role.

What will you do?
  • Undertake BA responsibilities of multiple strategic applications involving Capital Market Products
  • Understand the various financial products traded on Markets in RBC and how they have been modeled eg: securities, Derivatives etc.. Be familiar with booking and settlement process and concepts of trades, positions, and sub-ledger, price valuations.
  • Analyze existing data models built on MS Access and co-relate Business requirements to gaps in Data models and build solutions.
  • Analysis and document Business and Functional requirements from business stakeholders. Lead and facilitate collaborative sessions with business stakeholders to drive requirements discovery, analysis, and review.
  • Get familiar with current data models and systems. Perform data analysis and reverse engineering, to access the current and future states and perform gap analysis. Identify upstream and downstream dependencies.
  • Construct data flow diagrams, business, and system context diagrams, create design solutions. Work closely with the development teams to ensure there is full understanding and proper execution of requirements in a timely manner.
  • Provide hands‑on support during various cycles of testing including Functional Testing, Systems Integration Testing, and User Acceptance Testing.
  • Adopt Agile methodologies to enable periodic implementations.
  • Scrum Management experience, provide high level key deliverable plan and detail break down to user stories and major tasks; providing guidance and leadership through to the scrum team during all project phases; ability to handle pressure with multiple priorities.
  • Manage risks, assumptions, and constraints for requirements, and communicate to appropriate parties.
  • Work with tools and platforms such as JIRA, Confluence, SQL and be willing to learn adhoc.
Must-have:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Preferably Technology or Business.
  • 5-7 years of Business Systems Analysis experience in fast-paced environment
  • Expert knowledge of SQL and Excel for data analysis
