Job summary

The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) is seeking an Epic Analyst to join the Health Information System (HIS) Department. You will help design workflows, document requirements, and test Epic workflows for the Atlas Alliance, supporting multiple Ontario health organizations.

Under supervision, you will contribute to Epic upgrades, manage error queues, and provide on‑call support, while developing business analysis, QA, and project coordination skills in a collaborative health IT environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a three-year Community College program in Business Administration, Health Information Management, Computer Science, Health Administration, or related discipline.
• Minimum of three years progressive experience in Information Systems (healthcare or IT support considered).
• Ability to learn technical concepts/logic and document processes clearly.
• Experience leading components in implementing small to medium scale systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing support during regular hours, overtime and on‑call capacity.

Join our team as an Epic Analyst in the Health Information System (HIS) Department!

The HIS Department is responsible for the continuing and ongoing support of patient safety and care through maintaining and improving the Atlas Alliance's Epic Health Information System. The Atlas Alliance is a partnership of 18 Ontario healthcare institutions sharing one Epic HIS. The vision of the HIS Department is to continue to support and upgrade our integrated health information management system and increase the quality and safety of care, enhancing both the patient and provider experience now and for generations to come.

What You Will Do

The Business Analyst, Regional Epic supports the building and maintaining of the Epic Hospital Information System for the Atlas Alliance group of health organizations, including but not limited to: The Ottawa Hospital, The Ottawa Hospital Family Health Team, The University of Ottawa Heart Institute, Hawkesbury General Hospital, Renfrew Victoria Hospital, Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, Winchester District Memorial Hospital, Kemptville District Hospital, Deep River District Hospital, and Group Health Centre. Working under the guidance of senior analysts and the manager, the incumbent helps design workflows, document requirements, and create and test workflows in Epic. The position also assists with Epic system upgrades, monitors and actions error queues and provides ongoing support during regular hours, overtime and in an on‑call capacity. It combines business analysis, quality assurance, development/configuration, support, project coordination with growing exposure to more complex project management. This position requires attention to detail, capacity to understand technical concepts/logic, good communication skills, time management skills and the ability to shift between multiple ongoing tasks at any given time. This role requires periodic adjustments to work hours and overtime to accommodate meetings and project-related deadlines.

What You Will Bring

• Completion of a three (3) year Community College program in Business Administration, Health Information Management, Computer Science, Health Administration, or a related discipline OR college plus equivalent experience in a relevant discipline;
• Minimum of three (3) years progressive experience in Information Systems (other healthcare‑based experience may also be considered);
• Attention to detail and an ability to learn technical concepts and logic;
• Experience leading components in the implementation of small to medium scale systems and solution design;
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, critical thinking, and decision‑making skills;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks;
• Experience in documenting and communicating processes and procedures;
• Ability to work independently and collaborate closely with team members;
• Ability to prioritize a large number of requests;
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word);
• Must be eligible to work in Canada.

You will stand out with:

• Familiarity with healthcare or information‑technology environments;
• Epic certification or proficiency;
• Experience in business analysis, healthcare, customer service or IT support;
• Epic or other Hospital Information System/EHR exposure
• Experience with configuring computer systems, creating reports (SQL, Crystal Reports, etc) and/or working in a programming environment;
• Experience with quality assurance of clinical systems;
• Proficiency in English and French, oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
