Job description

We are looking for an Investment Business Analyst for our client in based in Ontario. The candidate must have experience either in Investment Management or should have worked with any Pension Plan.

Responsibilities :

  • Gap and Technical Debt Analysis : Conduct thorough analyses to identify gaps and sticky technical debts in processes, systems, and data for managing public and private assets with a focus on identifying legacy workarounds and persistent issues.
  • Investment Lifecycle Mapping : Document and analyze the end-to-end investment lifecycle, from ideation to execution and monitoring, and identifying technical debt impacting efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration : Engage with stakeholders across public and private groups, including investment teams, operations, compliance, and senior management, to gather requirements, validate findings, and propose solutions.
  • Senior Management Use Cases : Translate analytical findings into practical use cases and actionable recommendations tailored for senior management to support strategic decision-making and mitigate technical debt.
  • Process Improvement : Propose and assist the implementation of process enhancements to optimize asset management, investment operations, and resolve technical debt in an agile framework.
  • Agile and Independent Work : Operate independently in an agile environment, prioritizing tasks, iterating on solutions, and delivering high-quality outcomes with minimal supervision.
  • Reporting and Documentation : Create clear, concise reports, process maps, and presentations to communicate insights, technical debt resolutions, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Cross-Group Coordination : Facilitate alignment between public and private groups.

Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, FRM, CBV, or CBAP) is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in asset management, pension plan, investment banking or private equity.
  • Proven track record of identifying gaps, sticky technical debts, and mapping complex business processes in the investment lifecycle.
  • Experience working across public and private asset groups is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in agile environments, delivering iterative solutions.
  • Industry Knowledge : Strong understanding of public and private asset classes, investment structures, and the financial services industry.
  • Technical knowledge of Capital Markets and Trading Platforms.
  • Knowledge of financial modeling, quantitative analysis tools, or specific tools like Bloomberg, Aladdin, Numerix, or other financial platforms.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Snowflake, SQL, and BI Tools is a must.
  • Strong knowledge of the software delivery lifecycle and project lifecycle.
  • Understanding of delivery methodologies : waterfall, agile, hybrid.
