Job summary

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) is seeking a Business Analyst for a Winter 2027 term in Downtown Toronto, on a hybrid schedule. You will contribute to Controllership, Capital Markets and Wholesale Banking initiatives, developing reports, testing systems, and supporting partners across Finance, Risk Management and Front Office.

Candidates must be enrolled in post‑secondary education and plan to return to full‑time studies after the term.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in post‑secondary education and returning to full‑time studies after term.
  • Strong problem solving, writing, and communication skills.
  • Experience with Excel and VBA, or programming languages like Java, Python, or PHP.
  • Familiarity with databases and data analysis is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Controllership, Capital Markets and Wholesale Banking initiatives.
  • Develop new reports and test new systems or databases to ensure accuracy.
  • Support Front Office, Risk Management and Finance in project work.
  • Assist with process improvement and governance activities.

What You’ll Be Doing

The Controllership group provides finance services to CIBC’s businesses through effective governance and decision support processes. These services include financial, management and regulatory reporting, maintenance of accounting records, financial analysis and planning, tax planning and compliance, treasury, investor relations, and regular reviews of business line performance.

As a Business Analyst, you will be involved in Finance’s process improvement program, development of new or existing Controllership , Capital Markets and Wholesale Banking initiatives and assisting Middle Office analysts on maintaining existing processes and development of new reports and testing of new systems or databases to ensure accuracy and completeness. Depending on the project, you may also provide support to Front Office, Risk Management and Finance and interact with business partners (all levels). You will be participating in team meetings and are also encouraged to provide input on improvement opportunities on existing processes. Important Information

You must be currently enrolled in post‑secondary education and returning to full time studies after term to be eligible, however, you do not need to be in a registered Co‑Op program to be considered for this role.

This role is based in Downtown Toronto within a hybrid work arrangement. Please note all employees must work within their current jurisdiction and must reside within Canada.

Duration of term: Winter 2027 (January - April)

You have technical experience. You have strong working knowledge of database design, DB management, and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with a focus on advanced Excel (including VBA and designing libraries) or programming such as Java, PHP or Python. It’s an asset if have experience using VBA, SQL, VB.net, Java, MS Visio, HTML 5 and C#.
