Job summary

Emterra Group is seeking an innovative Business Analyst in Canada to lead AI-enabled insights and advanced reporting for waste management operations. You will design Power BI dashboards, develop AI-powered chatbots for internal and customer use, and identify broader automation opportunities to drive smarter, data-driven decisions.

You will collaborate with operations, IT, and engineering to deploy data solutions, automate workflows, and improve sustainability KPIs while staying current with AI

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1+ year as a Business Analyst required.
  • Experience with data visualization and AI projects.
  • Familiarity with chatbot platforms and basic prompt engineering.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis and AI/ML model integration.
  • Strong communication to align technical solutions with business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements and translate into data models, DAX calculations, and visual reports.
  • Analyze waste management data to identify inefficiencies and improvements.

Job Summary

We’re seeking an innovative Business Analyst with experience in AI solutions and advanced reporting to help transform our waste management operations. In this role, you’ll lead initiatives to deliver actionable insights through Power BI dashboards, develop and optimize AI chatbot solutions for internal and customer interactions, and identify broader AI automation opportunities across our services. Your work will be central to building a smarter, more efficient, and sustainable waste management system through data‑driven decision‑making and intelligent automation.

Position Description
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards that deliver clear operational, sustainability, and business performance insights.
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into effective data models, DAX calculations, and visual reports.
  • Analyze collection, routing, recycling, and disposal data to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Lead the development and implementation of AI‑powered chatbots to improve customer service, reduce call volumes, and streamline internal workflows.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and IT teams to scope AI and automation use cases (e.g., smart routing optimization, load forecasting, customer self‑service).
  • Support the evaluation and integration of AI/ML models for predictive analytics, including reducing equipment downtime and improving sustainability KPIs.
  • Communicate complex technical findings in clear, business‑friendly language to executives and cross‑functional teams.
  • Stay current on emerging AI, chatbot, and data visualization technologies to inform our digital strategy.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Data Science, Information Systems, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Business Analyst, with significant exposure to data visualization and AI projects.
  • Familiarity with chatbot development platforms (e.g., Microsoft Power Automate, Dialogflow, Azure Bot Service) and basic prompt engineering.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation scripting, or AI/ML model integration.
  • Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to align technical solutions with business needs.
  • Act as a liaison between the Western Operations teams and the National IT Team to facilitate communication and project coordination.
  • Communicate and disseminate relevant information, updates, and project developments to internal teams.
  • Support stakeholder engagement activities, including information gathering, requirements collection, and business needs analysis.
Nice to Have
  • Experience in logistics, supply chain, or environmental services.
  • Knowledge of sustainability metrics and ESG reporting frameworks.
  • Experience with QuickBase for workflow automation or custom applications.
  • Exposure to geospatial data analysis or IoT‑enabled waste management systems.
  • Understanding of responsible AI practices, including bias mitigation and ethical chatbot design.
  • Proven experience creating advanced Power BI dashboards, including data modeling, DAX, and UX best practices.
