Job summary

NSERC/SSHRC is seeking a bilingual Business Analyst to join a shared services directorate serving both agencies. You will define and validate business requirements, document processes, and facilitate collaboration between partners and IT providers to deliver solutions.

The successful candidate will have a post-secondary degree in MIS/CS/BA or related fields, plus BA certifications and experience liaising with stakeholders. This term appointment offers stability and public service impact.

What you will do

As a Business Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

The successful candidate will be following best practices in business analysis and product management, in order to facilitate the transformation of the Councils’ business processes from the initiative intake to delivery of solution. They will define, document, and validate the business requirements and processes and conduct options analysis for use in the development, user acceptance, and implementation of technology and business solutions. They will acts as the facilitator between business partners and solution providers.

Education

• Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or another field relevant to the position, or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
• Certificate or Certification in Business Analysis (e.g. Associate’s or Advanced Certificate in BA, Certified Business Analysis Professional CBAP). - an asset
• Experience in consulting with internal or external stakeholders to gather, analyze and document client requirements.;
• Experience developing and maintaining working relationships to act as a liaison between clients, technical and testing teams to ensure that the detailed business and IT requirements are clearly understood
• Experience in documenting functional and non-functional requirements.
• Experience in working with User-Centered Design (UCD) – an asset
• Experience with the administration of grants and contributions – an asset
• Experience providing advice on projects and practices to streamline operations, increase efficiency and improve program delivery – an asset
• Experience creating model workflows, activities and systems using graphical representations – an asset

Knowledge

• Knowledge of business analysis techniques and best practices.
• Knowledge of the Government of Canada Policy Framework for Information Management and Information Technology including the GC Digital Standards; - an asset
• Knowledge of the research community and of the university setting in Canada – an asset
• Knowledge of the policies, administrative regulations governing the structure, management and operation of the grants/fellowships programs administered by the granting Councils – an asset
