Job summary

Rundle College is seeking an On Call Bus Driver to transport students as required at Rundle College, Calgary, Alberta. The role involves following established routes and schedules, ensuring student safety, and supporting all Rundle Schools and Campuses.

The position requires a valid Alberta Class 4 license with a clean driving record, a Grade 12 education (3+ years related experience), and the ability to read maps. A First Aid certificate is a plus; preference given to internal candidates.

Qualifications

  • Valid Alberta Class 4 Driver’s License with clean abstract.
  • Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
  • Grade 12 completion with related experience (3+ years).
  • Excellent driving skills free of violations.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps.
  • First Aid certificate is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Safely deliver students to and from events.
  • Assist students with boarding and exiting and crossing streets when the bus is stopped.
  • Adhere to and enforce bus safety rules.
  • Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles safely.
  • Resolve conflicts positively and proactively.
  • Complete vehicle inspections prior to trips.
  • Complete post-trip cleanliness inspections and report or file items.
  • Follow policies and procedures and government regulations at all times.
  • Read and interpret maps when required.
  • Report bus malfunctions and needed repairs and complete related paperwork.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Operations

Position

The on call Bus Driver(s), will primarily be responsible for transporting students of various ages in an effective and safe manner. This individual will be responsible for following established routes and ensuring the established schedule is followed so passengers arrive at their destination on-time. The Bus Driver will maintain the health and safety of the students while transporting, loading and unloading the students, and ensure that all policies and procedures are followed while operating the vehicle. This position will support all Rundle Schools and Campuses.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely deliver students to and from events.
  • Assist students with boarding and exiting and while crossing the street while the bus is stopped.
  • Adhere to and enforce bus safety rules and standards.
  • Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Resolve any conflicts in a positive, respectful and proactive manner.
  • Complete vehicle inspections prior to departing for any trip.
  • Complete vehicle cleanliness inspections post trip, removing any garbage. Place found items in lost and found bin or remove to designated location.
  • Adhere to Rundle College Society policies and procedures and all government regulations at all times.
  • Read and interpret maps, where and when required.
  • Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs.Complete all necessary paperwork as required, such as, trip and mileage logs.
  • other reasonable duties, as assigned by the Manager of Operations
Qualifications
  • Hold a valid Alberta Class 4 Driver’s License, along with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • A clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
  • Completion of Grade 12 with a minimum of three years related experience.
  • Excellent driving skills free of violations and accidents.
  • Ability to remain attentive when faced with distractions.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps.
  • First Aid certificate, Level 1 is considered an asset.
