Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and organized Bus Manager / Student Transportation Manager to oversee daily transportation operations for a school district or transportation service provider. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating bus routes, managing driver schedules, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining efficient transportation services. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with various management systems to ensure smooth and reliable student transportation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and optimize daily bus routes to ensure that students are picked up and dropped off on time.
  • Manage driver schedules, assignments, and performance evaluations effectively.
  • Oversee the maintenance and safety inspections of fleet vehicles to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records related to routes, driver logs, and student information.
  • Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and cost savings.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, school officials, parents, and maintain professional phone etiquette.
  • Oversee the shipping and receiving processes for transportation supplies and parts.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulations governing student transportation.
  • Respond promptly to incidents, delays, and concerns raised by parents.
Qualifications
  • Experience in transportation, fleet management, logistics, or operations supervision
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Alberta school transportation laws (Traffic Safety Act, Education Act, NSC standards)
  • Ability to manage safety-sensitive operations
  • Valid Alberta driver’s licence (Class 2 preferred or asset)
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in scheduling and record keeping
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities effectively
