Job summary

Rundle College is seeking an on-call Bus Driver to transport students to and from events at Rundle College campuses in Calgary, Alberta. The role emphasizes safety, punctuality, and adherence to established routes and schedules while ensuring student health and welfare during transport.

Ideal candidates will hold a valid Alberta Class 4 Driver’s Licence with a clean abstract, a Grade 12 education, and at least three years of related experience.

Qualifications

  • Hold a valid Alberta Class 4 Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
  • Completion of Grade 12 with a minimum of three years related experience.
  • Excellent driving skills free of violations and accidents.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps.
  • First Aid certificate Level 1 is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Safely deliver students to and from events.
  • Assist students with boarding and exiting and while crossing the street while the bus is stopped.
  • Adhere to and enforce bus safety rules and standards.
  • Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Resolve any conflicts in a positive, respectful and proactive manner.
  • Complete vehicle inspections prior to departing for any trip.
  • Complete vehicle cleanliness inspections post trip and manage lost and found items.
  • Read and interpret maps as required and report any malfunctions.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork such as trip and mileage logs.

Position

The on call Bus Driver(s), will primarily be responsible for transporting students of various ages in an effective and safe manner. This individual will be responsible for following established routes and ensuring the established schedule is followed so passengers arrive at their destination on-time. The Bus Driver will maintain the health and safety of the students while transporting, loading and unloading the students, and ensure that all policies and procedures are followed while operating the vehicle. This position will support all Rundle Schools and Campuses.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safely deliver students to and from events.
  • Assist students with boarding and exiting and while crossing the street while the bus is stopped.
  • Adhere to and enforce bus safety rules and standards.
  • Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Resolve any conflicts in a positive, respectful and proactive manner.
  • Complete vehicle inspections prior to departing for any trip.
  • Complete vehicle cleanliness inspections post trip, removing any garbage. Place found items in lost and found bin or remove to designated location.
  • Adhere to Rundle College Society policies and procedures and all government regulations at all times.
  • Read and interpret maps, where and when required.
  • Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork as required, such as, trip and mileage logs.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret maps.
  • First Aid certificate, Level 1 is considered an asset.
