County of Simcoe is hiring a Janitorial and Maintenance Assistant to clean, maintain, and prepare units for new tenants at Community Housing properties. Responsibilities include interior and exterior upkeep, grounds care, supply management, and responding to urgent issues while complying with safety and privacy policies.
The role requires minimum 12th grade, WHMIS, a valid G‑class license, and at least one year in janitorial work.
Responsible for daily cleaning and general property maintenance, both inside and outside, including grounds work for Community Housing apartment buildings and family unit homes. Prepare units when vacant by cleaning all appliances, windows, stripping and sealing flooring and assisting tradespersons. Assist Building Superintendent II as required.
1. The cleaning and maintenance of all public areas of the building(s), including vacuuming, shampooing, mopping, sweeping, stripping, waxing, dusting and wiping of all floor, wall, ceiling, window, door and fixture areas.
2. Preparing vacant rental units for incoming tenants.
3. Removing all garbage and recycling material from building(s) to container or curb.
4. Monitor inventory of supplies and storage of materials, completing requisitions as required.
5. Maintain records, utilize approved systems and follow preventative maintenance schedules as required.
6. Monitor cleanliness and conditions of assigned County facilities and report areas of concern via approved communication procedure and systems.
7. Act on immediate priorities (e.g. spills, accidents, full refuse container removal, clogged toilets) as required.

12. Deal with tenant issues as they arise in conformance with the Corporation’s guidelines and policies, and with the Residential Tenancies Act.
13. Other duties as may be required, including redeployment in emergency situations.
14. Comply with provincial and County occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
15. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
