Selkirk International in Nelson is seeking a dependable custodian to support campus facilities and student housing. Reporting to the Campus Manager, you will perform custodial tasks, basic maintenance, and some security functions; travel between Nelson and Castlegar campuses as required.

This on-call (0%) position requires high school graduation, custodial training, WHMIS, a valid Class 5 license, and at least one year in a public institution.

Competenze

• High school graduation is required.
• Custodial Training Certificate and WHMIS certification are preferred.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
• First Aid Certificate preferred.
• Minimum 1-year custodial experience in a public institution.

Mansioni

• Performs custodial duties including dusting, garbage collection, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning and disinfecting washrooms.
• Performs heavy manual labour such as carpet cleaning, scrubbing/polishing floors, moving furniture.
• Performs exterior building maintenance such as window washing.
• Advising of equipment in need of repair.
• Performing maintenance and minor repairs to assigned tools and equipment.
• Replenishing custodial supplies.
• Performing general maintenance of facility and reporting maintenance problems.
• Setting up and taking down for special events and functions.

Reporting to the Campus Manager, and utilizing a service excellence approach, this position provides custodial services, general facility and grounds maintenance, and security functions. This position will be expected to report to Nelson (10th street, KSA and Silver King) and Castlegar campus as required including both Student Housing locations. Schedule flexibility and reliable transportation are vital for successful applicants.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Performs custodial duties including:

• Performing general custodial duties such as dusting, garbage collection, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning and disinfecting washrooms etc.;
• Performing heavy manual labour such as carpet cleaning, scrubbing/polishing floors, moving furniture etc;
• Performing exterior building maintenance such as window washing;
• Advising of equipment in need of repair;
• Performing maintenance and minor repairs to assigned tools and equipment;
• Replenishing custodial supplies;
• Performing general maintenance of facility and reporting maintenance problems; and
• Setting up and taking down for special events and functions.

Performs security functions including:

This is an on-call (0%) position, commencing as soon as possible. Salary will be Pay Grade 5, $29.47 per hour in accordance with the PPWC Collective Agreement.
