Job summary

Pinchin Ltd. seeks a Building Science Technologist to join the Building Science and Sustainability team, based in GTA or Peterborough, ON. You will perform building-condition assessments, develop restoration options, and prepare technical reports for client projects.

The role requires knowledge of building systems, ASTM E2018, Ontario Building Code, and proficiency with AutoCAD and UniFormat, with travel as needed and a strong focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Building Science, Architecture, or related field.
• Working knowledge of Building Condition Assessments, ASTM E2018 standard.
• Understanding of building construction, maintenance, HVAC, and envelopes.
• Familiarity with Ontario Building Code and interpreting drawings/reports.
• Experience with technical report writing; AutoCAD, UniFormat, and asset software are assets.
• Travel readiness with valid driver's license and vehicle; fieldwork capable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Building Condition Assessments for due diligence and capital planning per standards.
• Review roofs, cladding, balconies, fenestrations, and parking structures for remedial options.
• Perform invasive assessments and testing, such as roof cuts and water tests.
• Take quantities, measurements, and collect field data for projects.
• Assist with design development, specs, and restoration options.
• Perform construction reviews to ensure quality and alignment with specs.
• Prepare written reports and interpret field data; develop AutoCAD drawings as needed.
• Support project coordination including budgeting, QA/QC, and safety.
• Undertake other project-related duties as assigned.
