Job summary

Pinchin is seeking a Project Technologist in Building Science & Sustainability in Saskatoon. You will support assessments, investigations, and reporting across diverse environments, reporting to the Operations Manager in a replacement role.

The role requires a diploma/degree in related tech, familiarity with PCA/BCAs and ASTM standards, and willingness to travel. You will work with project teams on building envelopes, HVAC, and related systems, contributing to safe, high‑quality outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Building/Property Condition Assessments (PCAs/BCAs) and familiarity with ASTM standards is an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and reports.
  • Willingness to travel with valid driver's license and vehicle (expenses reimbursed).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Building and Property Condition Assessments for due diligence and capital planning.
  • Perform Capital planning Building Condition Assessments and Reserve Fund Studies.
  • Review and complete assessments of existing buildings and structures to determine design and remedial options.
  • Prepare written reports of findings and summarize field data.
  • Maintain QA/QC and health & safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a detail‑oriented and curious individual interested in building a career in building science and specialty services. In this role, you’ll contribute to meaningful projects, develop technical skills, and work closely with project teams supporting assessments, investigations, and reporting across a variety of environments.

Position

Project Technologist in Building Science & Sustainability in Saskatoon. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and is being filled as a replacement role.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct Building and Property Condition Assessments for due diligence and/or capital planning purposes in accordance with ASTM standards and construction practices at various client sites.
  • Capital planning Building Condition Assessments and/or Reserve Fund Studies.
  • Review and complete assessments of existing buildings and structures (roof assemblies, exterior cladding assemblies, balcony assemblies, fenestrations, and parking garage structures) to determine design and remedial work options.
  • Prepare written reports of findings, summarizing, collating, and interpreting the results of field data.
  • Maintain QA/QC protocols.
  • Maintain health and safety protocols as well as quality control within the group.
  • Perform any other job‑related duties that may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • Technically capable, curious, accountable, and collaborative, with a strong interest in building science.
  • Diploma/degree in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction, Architecture, Building Science, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of Building/Property Condition Assessments (PCAs/BCAs) and familiarity with ASTM standards (e.g., ASTM E2024) is an asset.
  • Experience with building construction, rehabilitation, or maintenance practices is preferred.
  • Understanding of building envelope assemblies and building systems (including HVAC) is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the National Building Code and applicable standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and reports.
  • Strong written communication skills, including experience preparing clear technical reports.
  • Reliability to perform fieldwork (including travel) with a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle (expenses reimbursed). Level I drone license and/or Level I thermography are considered assets.
