Job summary

City of Chestermere is seeking a Safety Codes Technician to provide technical support for Safety Code activities and manage permits, records, inspections, and related customer service for building projects.

You will work with Chestermere's Community Growth and Infrastructure team, coordinate inspections, prepare release packages, and assist in building statistics reporting, while upholding Privacy and Safety Codes Act and Municipal bylaws.

Qualifications

• Diploma or related post-secondary education is an asset.
• 3–5 years administrative experience.
• Municipal building services or construction environment experience is an asset.
• Basic knowledge of Alberta Safety Codes and Municipal Land Use Bylaw; ability to read permit drawings is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for Safety Code activities and permits processing.
• Manage permit and inspection data entry and records in the CS system.
• Organize inspection schedules and coordinate plan reviews and inspections.
• Prepare Safety Code permit release packages and update records after revisions.
• Offer high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
• Assist Safety Codes Officers with administrative tasks and verifications.
