Oak View Group (OVG) in Toronto is seeking a Building Operator for The Mattamy Athletic Centre. You will assist with building upkeep, work with the operations team, and handle ice maintenance and event support.

Role involves heavy lifting, team collaboration, and occasional evening/weekend shifts. On-site at the venue with an hourly CAD 28.00–30.00 rate.

Position Summary

Building Operator will assist with the general upkeep of the building, reporting directly to the Operations Manager. The selected candidate should work well in a team, as well as on their own. The position includes heavy lifting.

This role pays an hourly rate of $28.00 - $30.00 CAD

This position will remain open until December 4, 2026.

About The Venue

The Mattamy Athletic Centre is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility at Toronto Metropolitan University located in the former Maple Leaf Gardens. The facility consists of an NHL-sized arena that seats approximately 2,700 for hockey and ice events and 4,000 for stage events. The facility's double gym can accommodate up to 1,000 spectators under various configurations, including basketball, volleyball, and special events. There is also a 10,000 sq. foot fitness centre and over 12,000 sq. feet of office and meeting room spaces.

Responsibilities

• Operate building systems and contribute to the overall operations of the venue.
• Work with external clients in the preparation and execution of events.
• Work alongside the conversion crew during event setups and tear-downs.
• Operate and maintain ice resurfacing machines and perform regular ice maintenance.
• Assist with custodial duties to maintain building cleanliness.
• Change light bulbs and batteries, and perform minor repairs as necessary.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an arena or recreation facility is considered an asset, including training with the ORFA.
• Experience operating ice resurfacing machines is preferred. Ice resurfacing training can be provided for the right candidate.
• Must be a self-starter with good communication skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to work in a team environment.
• Excellent time management skills and an ongoing awareness of client satisfaction.
• Must be able to work regular evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
• Experience with power tools is considered an asset.
