Job summary

The City of Kamloops is seeking a highly skilled Building Official II to join the Development, Engineering, and Sustainability team in a permanent, full-time role. You will review and approve building permits, perform site inspections, and enforce BC Building Code and city bylaws, guiding internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary school or equivalent.
• Valid BC Driver’s Licence - Class 5.
• BC Trade Qualification or inter-provincial carpentry ticket and/or graduation from a recognized building technology course.
• Level II certification with the Building Officials Association of BC.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve building permits and conduct site inspections.
• Enforce BC Building Code and City bylaws.
• Provide professional guidance to internal departments, developers, owners, contractors and external agencies.

Education

BC Driver’s Licence - Class 5

BC Trade Qualification or inter‑provincial carpentry ticket or building technology course

Level II certification with BOABC

Secondary school or equivalent
