Job summary

The City of Kamloops is seeking a highly skilled permanent, full-time Building Official III to join our Development, Engineering, and Sustainability (DES) team. You will review building permits, conduct site inspections, and enforce BC Building Code and city bylaws, while guiding internal departments, developers, owners, contractors and other agencies.

This role requires Level III certification with BOABC, a BC Driver’s Licence, and a secondary school diploma, with opportunities for career

Qualifications

• Completion of secondary school or equivalent.
• Valid BC Driver’s Licence - Class 5.
• BC Trade Qualification or interprovincial carpentry ticket and/or graduation from a recognized building technology course.
• Level III certification with the Building Officials Association of BC.

Position Overview

The City of Kamloops is seeking a highly skilled permanent, full-time Building Official III to join our dedicated Development, Engineering, and Sustainability (DES) team. This is an opportunity to have a direct impact on the growth and innovation in Kamloops’ infrastructure.

As a Building Official III, you will play a pivotal role in review and approval of building permits, site inspections, enforcement of BC’s Building Code, City bylaws and much more! The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

Please note, this Building Official III posting coincides with postings Building Official I (2032) and Building Official II (2036). Our preference is to hire a fully qualified Building Official III. However, if there are no candidates deemed fully qualified, candidates for the Building Official II and Building Official I postings will be considered.
