Job summary

The Prince George Hotel in Halifax is seeking a Kitchen Steward to help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. You will work closely with the kitchen and Food & Beverage teams to ensure top condition of all kitchen areas.

Responsibilities include dishware sanitation, cleanliness, adherence to WHMIS procedures, and safe operation of cleaning equipment. Flexibility for days, nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Previous stewarding or kitchen experience is preferred
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety standards
• Ability to work flexible shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to work closing shifts

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize all dishware, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment
• Follow proper procedures for cleaning chemicals and equipment (WHMIS)
• Support receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies
• Operate dishwashing and cleaning equipment safely and efficiently
• Complete daily cleaning tasks as assigned
• Report safety hazards, incidents, and maintenance concerns
• Work closely with kitchen and Food & Beverage teams
• Take initiative to ensure the kitchen remains in top condition at all times
