Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a talented Bridges and Civil Structures Engineer to join our BECS team in Toronto or Vancouver. You will design, build, assess, and maintain bridges and heavy civil structures in Canada and abroad, guiding projects from planning through implementation.

You will collaborate with engineers, designers and clients, ensuring sustainable solutions, quality outcomes, and timely delivery across multi-disciplinary projects. Ontario experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of civil/structural engineering with emphasis on transportation and heavy civil structures; Ontario experience preferred.
• Design experience on a wide range of heavy civil infrastructure, including buildings and projects in transportation, rail and airports.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering; Master’s degree is an asset.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) is preferred.
• Experience with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and relevant MTO publications.
• Self-motivated, able to manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
• Strong verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SAP2000, CSI Bridge, MIDAS.

Responsibilities

• Developing the design of a wide range of structures from planning through concept to implementation.
• Assists in the assessment, rehabilitation, and seismic upgrade design of existing structures from planning through concept to implementation.
• Collaborating with professionals, clients, and third parties as required.
• Writing technical memos and reports to communicate your work.
• Supervising, coordinating and reviewing the work of other structural engineers and preparing technical documents.
• Supporting planning and management of projects to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery and sustainability.
• Providing project management and technical oversight, including mentoring team members and maintaining high standards.
• Identifying opportunities with clients and developing new business as part of growth strategy and proposals.
• Capability to plan and manage resources to meet schedules and budgets.
