Job summary

Stantec is seeking a civil/structural engineer to act as project manager, structural lead, and designer for transportation projects in Ontario. The role includes inspection, design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and coordination with highway, electrical, drainage and environmental planning.

You will supervise CAD teams, prepare reports and cost estimates, and contribute to business development in a hybrid setting across Markham, Mississauga, and Toronto offices.

Qualifications

• BASc or B.Eng. in civil/structural engineering with strong bridge focus.
• P.Eng status and 10+ years leading biennial inspection assignments and large transportation projects.
• RAQS eligible within bridge engineering for biennial inspections.
• Experience in proposal and report writing.
• Experience in asset management and project management.

Responsibilities

• Act as project manager, structural lead, and designer for engineering assignments.
• Responsible for transportation structural inspection assignments and be supervising engineer on biennial (OSIM) inspection assignments.
• Attend site visits related to pre-design information gathering, construction and post-construction review.
• Lead and conduct the inspection of existing bridges, culverts, and other transportation structures in accordance with OSIM and OHSA.
• Coordinate work with clients and other disciplines including highway/road, electrical, drainage and environmental planning.
• Analyze, evaluate design solutions for transportation structures including bridges, culverts, retaining walls and foundations.
• Provide direction to project team members and support staff through verbal and written instructions.
• Direct CAD team for drawing preparation and review deliverables prior to submission to client.
• Prepare and review technical reports, tender documents, and cost estimates.
• Provide recommendations and costing on bridge, culvert and retaining walls, required maintenance, repair and rehabilitation.
• Provide tender evaluations and/or construction engineering services.
• Conduct business development activities to secure new projects by client liaison and proposal preparation.
• Attend and participate in team progress meetings.
• Available to work flexible hours, days, nights, and weekends; may require travel.
• Complete daily health and safety documentation.
• Review transportation structure project budgets, schedules, risks, and cost to complete estimates.
