Job summary

Typhoon Masonry LTD. in Edmonton seeks an experienced mason to prepare and lay bricks, blocks and other masonry units for residential and commercial projects. You will work at heights on scaffolding, cut bricks to specification, and install veneer facings.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of masonry experience, a secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent, and WHMIS and fall-arrest training. Overtime and benefits including health, dental, vision, disability, and pension are available.

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of masonry experience.
• WHMIS certificate and fall arrest training.
• Ability to work at heights and lift heavy materials.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and lay bricks, blocks, and other masonry units.
• Lay bricks, stone or veneer facing to meet design specs.
• Construct and install prefabricated masonry units.
• Work at heights on scaffolding or swing stages.
• Cut and trim bricks and blocks to specification using hand/power tools.
• Lay bricks to build chimneys and fireplaces for buildings.

EDUCATION

• Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
• or equivalent experience

TASKS

• Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles or other masonry units
• Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing
• Construct and install prefabricated masonry units
• Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages
• Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools
• Lay bricks or other masonry units to build residential or commercial chimneys and fireplaces

CERTIFICATES, LICENCES, MEMBERSHIPS, AND COURSES

• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
