Breakfast Server
As a Breakfast Server at the Seaport Social, you are the first smile of the day and a key part of creating a warm, welcoming start for every guest. From early-morning business travelers to families enjoying a relaxed meal, your attentive service, efficiency, and positive energy set the tone for the entire guest experience. In this fast-paced hotel restaurant environment, your ability to stay organized, anticipate guest needs, and deliver friendly, professional service ensures each morning runs smoothly and leaves a lasting impression.
Early mornings don’t slow you down—instead, they energize you. You take pride in maintaining a clean, inviting dining space, preparing and serving fresh breakfast offerings, and creating a comfortable atmosphere where guests feel cared for. As a Breakfast Server you will:
- Create a Welcoming Start – Greet guests promptly with a friendly, upbeat attitude, present menus, highlight daily breakfast features, and ensure each guest feels valued from the moment they arrive.
- Deliver Efficient Morning Service – Provide prompt, accurate food and beverage service including coffee, tea, juices, and breakfast items, ensuring guests can enjoy their meals—even on tight schedules.
- Know the Menu Inside & Out – Confidently explain menu items, preparation methods, and ingredients, and make thoughtful recommendations tailored to guest preferences, including lighter, dietary, or grab-and-go options.
- Maintain Cleanliness & Readiness – Set up and refresh tables, maintain buffet, and ensure the dining area remains clean, organized, and fully stocked throughout the breakfast shift.
- Support a Smooth Operation – Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house team members to ensure timely service, accurate orders, and a seamless guest experience from seating to departure.
Job Requirements
- At least one year of previous experience as a restaurant server, preferably within a hotel setting, is required.
- Valid Serve Right certification required
- Ability to work early morning shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Strong communication, multitasking, and guest service skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Knowledge of POS systems and cash handling procedures an asset
Additional Job Duties
- Prepare tables for service, including linens, silverware, glassware, and condiments
- Perform light food preparation such as brewing coffee, toasting items, preparing cold dishes, and portioning desserts
- Maintain full knowledge of menu offerings, daily specials, and hotel promotions
- Take and accurately enter guest orders into POS system
- Serve food and beverages promptly and professionally
- Monitor guest satisfaction and respond quickly to requests or concerns
- Prepare and present guest checks; process payments accurately
- Clear tables and reset dining areas efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness of dining room, service stations, and back-of-house areas
- Complete all opening, side work, and closing duties as per SOPs
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and local liquor regulations
- Assist with restocking supplies and preparing for the next service period
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding any issues or guest concerns
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing training as required
- Accurately complete daily cash-out procedures
