Job summary

Southeast Regional Library in Weyburn is seeking a Branch Supervisor to lead the Weyburn Branch Library, ensuring high quality public library service in line with regional policies.

The role emphasizes staff development and supervision, collections maintenance, and overseeing programs. The supervisor serves as secretary to the local library board and supports customer centered services, requiring strong HR knowledge and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in business with 3-5 years professional experience (or a related field)
• Or relevant business experience in a non-profit or public library services, including two years of leadership, supervisory and management experience
• Library experience is an asset
• Knowledge of human resource management in a unionized environment
• Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead staff
• Ability to manage work, schedule employees and priorities to support customer-centered services
• Working knowledge of library practices and procedures
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, trustees and the public
• Demonstrated ability to do basic accounting
• Superior interpersonal, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Superior oral and written communication skills
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to drive as required
• Must provide a criminal record check
• Physical fitness for lifting/moving library materials up to 20 kg
• Availability to work evenings, weekends and some holidays

Responsibilities

• Supervise and operate Weyburn Branch Library in line with sound library principles and regional policies
• Develop and supervise local staff, manage schedules and priorities to ensure customer-centered services
• Oversee collection maintenance and library programs for the community
• Act as secretary to the local library board and committees
• Perform public library service duties as needed
