Parkland Regional Library is hiring a casual branch library clerk for its Wynyard branch to replace the current employee when unavailable to work.

Training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Carry out all branch operations including circulation, interlibrary loan, and collection management.
• Assist patrons in the selection and use of print and digital library materials.
• Provide required informational reports for the local library board and Parkland Regional Library.
• Maintain library materials in good order and arrange book displays on shelves.
• Assist in the promotion and implementation of local programming in accordance with local community needs.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of branch library procedures.
• Ability to serve the public courteously and handle difficult situations with resourcefulness and tact.
• Ability to make decisions in accordance with prescribed regulations, policies and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and organize work so that assigned tasks are completed on time.
• Reliability and accuracy are important traits.
• Basic computer skills, physical mobility, and fitness required. Must be able to lift boxes of books.
• Acceptable criminal record check with vulnerable sector check required.
